A Rabbit On Leads And Collars? Really? |

My daughter, bless her heart, loves rabbits. Ever since she was about two years old, it has been rabbit this and rabbit that. She has also been enamored with the fact of owning a rabbit. In a home that already has three cats and a dog, I really couldn't see a rabbit making its appearance. My wife didn't help. She kept talking about how they would get some pet leads and collars and take the rabbit for walks. That got me laughing. Taking a rabbit for a walk with leads and collars!
When my daughter turned eight years old this past summer, there was a surprise gift waiting for her. It was well against my good judgment, but I figured we could give it a try. My wife, who makes cakes for birthdays, struck up a deal with someone who had some rabbits. She would make a theme cake for her son's birthday for a rabbit. To my dismay, the deal was struck.
On the day of her birthday, my daughter was completely beside herself. After she saw the rabbit, the rest of the party was pretty much over. She wouldn't do anything but play with the little ball of fur. Then she asked where the leads and collars were to take it for a walk. I never thought she would be serious about taking the rabbit for a walk so looking for leads and collars wasn't something that I thought about doing.
But, if she was going to be serious about this, then I started to look for some rabbit leads and collars. I wasn't really expecting to find anything until I went to Top Line Pet Supply at www.toplinepetsupply.com. They actually had leads and collars for rabbits! I couldn't believe it. Did people really take rabbits for walks? (I found that they did after doing some research online on rabbit care)
I decided to order a Coastal Rabbit Adjustable Harness Lead Red. I chose this one just because my daughter loves the color red. Once the package arrived from Top Line Pet Supply, it was like her birthday party all over again. She ripped open the box and placed the leads and collars on the rabbit. I think she wore the poor thing out that day. They spent the entire day outside. After sitting for a little while, she would walk around with the rabbit until we called her in for dinner. I never thought that there were leads and collars for rabbits. I wonder if they make them for birds? I'm going to check that out now! |
